As autumn descends on the Big Sky region, the vibrant colors and cooler temperatures bring more than just scenic views—they also usher in a unique opportunity to learn about our local wildlife. The Big Sky Trails Association (BSTA) is thrilled to announce our upcoming Wildlife Awareness Week, taking place from October 10-16, 2024.

Engage with Experts

This week-long event features daily educational sessions led by local wildlife experts, including biologists and conservationists, who will discuss the diverse ecosystems surrounding our beloved trails. Topics will include animal behavior, habitat preservation, and safety tips for encountering wildlife while hiking.

Special Events:

  • Guided Nature Walks: Join us for daily guided walks on select trails where experts will point out wildlife signs, tracks, and local flora.
  • Family-Friendly Workshops: Bring the kids for interactive workshops designed to educate young nature lovers about the importance of wildlife conservation. Activities will include crafts and games focused on local species.
  • Evening Lectures: Attend evening lectures at our community center featuring guest speakers from the Big Sky Conservancy. Learn about ongoing conservation efforts and how you can get involved.

Why Wildlife Awareness Matters

As we enjoy our beautiful trails, it’s essential to remember that they are home to a variety of wildlife. Understanding their behaviors and habitats not only enhances our hiking experiences but also helps protect these species and their environments.
